An Unstoppable Trio:
Jim Shriver, Phyllis Grondalski and Kim Howes receive
The Association's Partner in Philanthropy Award

THE ASSOCIATION FOR COMMUNITY LIVING announced that local Western Massachusetts residents Jim Shriver of Longmeadow, Phyllis Grondalski of Wilbraham, and Kim Howes of Northampton are the recipients of its annual Partner in Philanthropy Award. The announcement was made at The Association’s 57th Annual Dinner and Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at The Log Cabin Banquet and Meeting House in Holyoke.
Every year The Association honors award recipients for their dedication to The Association For Community Living and its mission to create opportunities, build relationships and improve lives for children and adults with autism, Down syndrome and other developmental disabilities and others who will benefit from their services.
This year, however, was a unique celebration because it marked the 15th Anniversary of The Association’s annual campaign. The Partner in Philanthropy Award was presented in honor of this 15th anniversary. The award recipients, Board Members Phyllis Grondalski, Kim Howes, and Jim Shriver have all served on the Campaign Committee since its inception.
The success and growth The Association’s annual campaign has involved the passionate and tireless drive of these 3 individuals. More than 15 years ago, Shriver, Grondalski and Howes recognized the need for the agency to diversify its revenue. In 1995 The Association held its first campaign and since then has held 15 annual campaigns. In 1995, The Association raised $20,000. This year, in 2010 we are on track to raise $400,000.
Great friends, Phyllis Grondalski of Wilbraham; Kim Howes of Northampton and Jim Shriver of Longmeadow are a solid team. Although each one has contributed his or her unique talents to help grow The Association, together they are unstoppable. They have consistently and diligently provided the vision and leadership to make The Association a leader among providers in the state. Grondalski, Howes and Shriver have made the heart of The Association For Community Living’s mission - caring for children, adults and families – a vibrant reality for members of this community.
